Going Old School

Lately in the literary world I've been going back to the roots of classic literature. Instead of reading whatever tickles my fancy, I've been reading books like Lord of the Flies and Fahrenheit 451. Most people read these in their high school careers but sadly mine did not focus on these particular books.

Lord of the Flies was ceratinly interesting but I found some of it a little hard to follow. It almost seemed like the book was meant to be read from a child's perspective and I had a little bit of trouble with that. Although this type of story does make you think. If a group of boys were stranded on a desert island would they resort to savagery or create a new humane society? Unfortunately, I think the savagery prevails.

I haven't finished Fahrenheit 451 yet but I'm about halfway done. So far its very good. I keep imagining as I read it that this particular society would be hard to tolerate. People don't think for themselves and follow ridiculous rules, creating a society of sheep. Can't wait to see how it ends.

On a side note, anyone seen this trailer? Its really creepy if this stuff is actually real.
