Ever had one of those days where if it can go wrong it will? Tuesday was that day for Miss Moon and I. For the past few days Miss Moon has been suffering with what seems to be plaguing everyone; the common cold. Monday night she took some seemingly harmless cold medicine. In the morning things had taken a turn for the worse. I was woken up early to an erratic and upset Miss Moon. The cold medicine had made her dizzy and shaky, putting her emotions on high. She wanted to go to health services on campus but she did not want to go alone, understandable, neither would I.
We got to health services at seven o'clock, only one problem, they don't open until eight. We were told, just to be safe, to go to the emergency room. We went back to the dorm and I grabbed my keys, along with the address (I had no idea where the hospital was) and then we were out the door.
We got to the hospital and checked in at the desk. Miss Moon vanished behind the ER doors while I stayed out in the waiting room. Thats one thing I hate about hospitals, the waiting. I had no idea what was going it on and it seemed to be taking forever. Finally one of the nurses asked if I wanted to go back and see her.
Miss Moon was in a bed wrapped in one of those white hospital blankets. She didn't have much information either. Thats when the real fun started, tests.
Miss Moon was taken away for a short while to get a chest x-ray. I guess this was to check if her lungs were clear. Next on the agenda was a blood sample. Both Miss Moon and myself hate having blood drawn. She thows up and I pass out. After four vials of blood were taken there was more and more waiting. We had no idea what they were checking for or what they were going to do next.
Since Miss Moon was having mild chest pain they ordered an EKG. The little stickers were placed on various parts of her body with attached electrodes. The procedure took all of two minutes. Yet again we were left in the dark. Finally the doctor arrived and said that she had some slightly abnormal patterns. They were now going to check the blood that they had drawn for cardiac enzyme levels. Why, who knows?
To top off everything they wanted a repeat EKG. The cardiologist came down and said that the patterns were looking abnormal because they looked more like the patterns in a child. I've always teased that Miss Moon is childlike, I guess its true. We were finally given freedom and Miss Moon was allowed to go home. We were there for over five hours. Needless to say she won't be taking that medication again.

Going Old School
Lately in the literary world I've been going back to the roots of classic literature. Instead of reading whatever tickles my fancy, I've been reading books like Lord of the Flies and Fahrenheit 451. Most people read these in their high school careers but sadly mine did not focus on these particular books.
Lord of the Flies was ceratinly interesting but I found some of it a little hard to follow. It almost seemed like the book was meant to be read from a child's perspective and I had a little bit of trouble with that. Although this type of story does make you think. If a group of boys were stranded on a desert island would they resort to savagery or create a new humane society? Unfortunately, I think the savagery prevails.
I haven't finished Fahrenheit 451 yet but I'm about halfway done. So far its very good. I keep imagining as I read it that this particular society would be hard to tolerate. People don't think for themselves and follow ridiculous rules, creating a society of sheep. Can't wait to see how it ends.
On a side note, anyone seen this trailer? Its really creepy if this stuff is actually real.

VMA's Anyone??
I was watching the VMA's, thats video music awards to those of you who don't know, and I'm sure everybody has heard about it by now, but I was stunned. As Taylor Swift took the stage for best female video of the year (i think), Kanye West hopped on stage and stole the mic from her, stating that Beyonce had "the best album of all time" or something like that. Poor Taylor looked mortified and not sure what to do. At the end of the evening when Beyonce won for something, i can't remember, she invited Taylor back on stage to have her moment. What a class act, props to her.
So much drama, on top of that Lady GaGa has to be one of the oddest and fascinating people I have ever seen. Her outfits were attention grabbing to say the least. Plus her performance of paparazzi was intriguing. It almost reminded me of Madonna or something. It pushed the envelope but was great to watch.
On a little music side note, I found this video that is absolutely spectacular. I'm not a fan of miley cyrus but her song "party in the u.s.a." isn't half bad. Although I think these boys do it better.

Pong Pong and Wow Wow

I was watching chelsea lately tonight, after a riveting evening of playing the new Beatles Rock Band. They mentioned a story that was absolutely adorable.
Two dogs in China push a cart with groceries over two miles for their owner. The owner had suffered a stroke and could no longer make the trip. One day as the man was pulling the cart one of the dogs stood on its hind legs and attempted to push the cart.
Both dogs were trained to push the cart and eventually the man didn't even need to accompany them. Every day he sends them out with a grocery list and a purse with money to get the needed items.
If one dog gets tired its hops in the cart and they alternate turns. This story was just too cute not to mention.

On the Road Again
Back to school we go. Just got moved in today. The process seemed to take a lot less time and effort this time around. We've kind of got it down to a science now. It doesn't hurt that we brought significantly less stuff to accumulate. I'd like to say that something funny or witty happened but it didn't. Although we did forget a few things and had to make a stop at the local Walmart. (I forgot my pillows, can you believe that?) On top of moving in I decided to catch a cold and proceeded to feel miserable for most of the day. Hopefully classes tomorow will go smoothly for both of us. I feel bad for Miss Moon, she has a class at eight in the morning.
Overall, it's good to be home.

The Party's Over . . . or is it?
The summer is winding down and its time to head back to school. I'm actually ready to go back. I like those classes in college, not like some pointless high school classes, that shall remain nameless. Plus there's so much freedom with living in college. For most people, it is the first time that people live on their own, away from their families. I am going to soak up the freedom.
Taking a break from all the packing, Miss Moon and I went to a local fair. The Spencer Fair is pretty popular around here during labor day. We had a good time. There were all sorts of cute little animals to look at, including little chicks that we were able to hold. Miss Moon wanted nothing to do with the chicks but I couldn't resist. They were so cute. They had trapeze artists and karaoke. It was a grand time.
The highlight of the evening was the demolition derby. It was packed. We got there two hours early and it had already started to fill up. We had to save seats for Miss Moon's family too. I always feel bad when people are looking for seats and you have to telll them "sorry these are taken." It feels so rude and insensitive. The derby did not disappoint, complete with fires and plenty of good hits. This was a great way to start of the final weekend before school.
