Fall Out Boy: Believers Never Die

So yesterday I went with my friend, Jill, to a fall out boy concert, the Believers Never Die Tour. Boy did we have a good time. It was a little nerve racking at first, waiting in line. A fire truck had arrived earlier, apparently they had a problem with the pyrotechnics, thank god it was during rehearsal.

Hey Monday, a group that I will compare to Paramore, opened first. They were, to my surprise, very good. Great way to open the show. Check out a few of their songs: Homecoming or Obvious.

Metro Station preformed after Hey Monday. I bet you know who they are but if you don't check them out. One of the guys is actually Miley Cyrus' brother, definitely the polar opposite. They disappointed me a little bit. Most of my fave songs aka: Tell Me What to Do or Disco, they didn't sing. I suppose I shouldn't complain they did a really good cover of Dead and Gone by T.I. and Justin Timberlake.

All time Low followed after and I must say they were the most entertaining. At one point they yelled "who has sweaty titties?!" They had at one point two hundred bras on stage, so funny. One of the guys had one on his head, I have no idea how it got there. Also one of my favorite quotes: "If you get naked I'll probably have sex with you." Seriously check them out too.

Cobra Starship was the last opening band and they have always been one of my favorites. I was a little disappointed when they didn't play any of their old stuff, just songs from the new album. Don't get me wrong I like the songs I just wanted to hear Send My Love to the Dance Floor or Keep It Simple.

Finally the moment that everyone had been waiting for arrived. Fall Out Boy took the stage. Trust me they did not disappoint. They played everything that I loved: She's My Winona, Tiffany Blews, Thnks fr th Mmrs, Dance Dance, This Ain't a Scene it's an Arms Race, . . . I have too many favorites. Not to be outdone by All Time Low they asked that the guys take off their shirts and throw them on stage. They got quite a few but definitely not comparable to the bras. It makes me wonder, what do they do with all of those bras and shirts, who knows? One of the best shows I have been to, although thats not saying much.

Get Me Out of Here!

It was way too hot today. I hate when the weather goes from being in the fifties straight to the nineties. My car has air conditioning, unlike our dorm room, so we took a drive in the coolness of the car.

I love taking drives and not knowing exactly where you are going. We went through small town after small town. One of my favorites had the title of Look. As in Look Restaurant and Look Park. After seeing these signs I knew it wasn't a coincidence and that must have been the name of the town. There were also a lot of pretty victorian houses painted every color under the sun.

My advice, take a drive, you never know what you might see.

Susan Boyle Bandwagon

I know you all have probably heard about her by now but still isn't she amazing?

My grandma called me the other day and was like have you heard of Susan Boyle? I don't really follow American Idol or that sort of thing so of course I said no.

Later I looked her up and boy was I impressed. You should too, youtube her or something. She's not hard to find. Get on the Susan Boyle bandwagon.

Cheesecake Phenomenon

What do we do on the ride home and we're super tired? Talk about cheesecake of course. lol and other random things such as random criminal acts and other random food mixes.

Miss Moon had one of those Philadelphia Cheesecake filling containers. This gave her a desire for cheesecake. She was not able eat cheesecake during Easter because she was sick. lol it really just hit me....not literally either.

I said why don't we just buy one of those fillings. We don't even need the graham cracker crust. Thats just another step between us and eating it. It was pretty hard to find, but well worth it.
(See it says ready to eat.)

(Is that a new SoGo shirt? Yes it is.)

Pain in the Ass pups

We wanted to take Miss Moon's puppies for a walk yesterday. They are little so we took them to a mediocre trail. They were pains, pulling constantly.

Lately we have been watching the Dog Whisperer on the National Geographic Channel. Miss Moon wanted to try to become the "pack leader." Miss Moon kind of succeded but I on the other hand did not. Oh well they were cute.
They fell asleep on the ride home. So Cute.

Smokin' Out Vermin

Little update on that fire from yesterday. No one was hurt. Apparently the owner of the barn was trying to smoke out some unwanted visitors from his barn with smoke bombs. Within minutes the whole thing was engulfed. There was no saving the two barns but luckily the house was saved, apart from some smoke and water damage. No animal family members were injured either. The family dog made it out safe and the owner was seen holding his pet turtle.

To Hell and Back

For some reason I agreed to go back to the mountain park from hell. Miss Moon can be very persuasive. This time wasn't actually that bad. Persuasive....all I said was let's go back to the mountain and finish the trail. how is that persuasive?

We took the paved road up to the summit this time. Mary Jane was much happier. I was willing to try the rest of the trail, on the way down off of the mountain. Miss Moon actually let me lead this time. Partially because I have better shoes and she didn't want to fall. Truth hurts I didn't have the best shoes though I still wanted to lead. I'll just have to get her to go on a harder trail and then Miss Moon can lead. Now I didn't get us lost like Miss Moon but I did accidently lead us toward some interesting dogs, lol. I think lost is better anyday over vicious dogs. That's just my opinion though. We hightailed it outa there. On the way back there was this really interesting tree. Take a look:

We got back to the car and Miss Moon noticed some smoke billowing in the distance. It was really thick grey smoke so I knew it wasn't like someone burning firewood. Due to morbid curiousity we found the area. We weren't the only ones there. It looked like there was a barn on fire. The firetrucks arrived shortly to put out the fire. Hopefully no one was hurt. We are still waiting for information but it just happened today. It really was quite surprising!! I just had to take a picture, but I hope everything went decent and no one lost their lives.

Bittersweet Hell

Yet another hiking trip for the two of us. We sort of got lost this time. I followed the directions but could not find the park I was looking for. We wanted to go to this park with a mountain call Mt. Sugarloaf, hence the title. I must say I am not always the best with driving directions. Later I found out that Miss Moon had seen the park earlier but did not say anything, she was not sure she had the right place. It's not my fault. It was blocked off and I wasn't wearing my glasses. You might not believe this, but glasses actually help you see.

There was a nice looking trail off of the road that Miss Moon really wanted to take. I wasn't so sure about it. It had to be the steepest trail we've undertaken yet. The mountain was only 652 feet high but it felt more like 6,000 feet. Miss Moon loved it and wanted to do it again. I was about ready to beat her to a pulp. She was "cruisin' for a bruisin'" (What's that from?) Well on the bright note Miss Moon did not make her own trail for a change. Usually I get bored and create my own which is why I always get us lost. It was a step up for me. She should have enjoyed it too.

You have got to be kidding me!
Look how far we've come.
Check out these killer views!

Yay campus!

The Connecticut River

I must say the mountain had one of the best views so far. We could see for miles, even got a glimpse of our campus from afar. I was in no mood for another trail on the way back down the mountain so I never said anything to Miss Moon when I saw the trail, off the road, leading down. Who would think we were crazy enough to go back? I am crazy enough to do it again. I want to do the whole trail through. I got my second wind!!! I so could have done the other trail.

SoGoPro's Book Club: The Ballad of the Sad Cafe

I have started reading The Ballad of the Sad Cafe by Carson McCullers. The story starts off with an introduction of Miss Amelia Evans. Miss Amelia is a rich woman in town. She owns a store and makes her own alcohol in a still behind her house. She was married once, but only for ten days. No one will cross her.

One evening, late into the night, a hunchback shows up on her porch. He claims to be a relative of hers and introduces himself as Cousin Lymon. The townsfolk assume that this man is a fake and wants her money. Miss Amelia then does something she never does; she invites the stranger in and shares a meal with him.

Rumors begin to spread around town. A man with the "three day fever" believes that Miss Amelia has killed the hunchback and that is why they have not seen him. The men decide to stake out Amelia's home and barge in. The hunchback stands at the top of the stairs and calmly walks down to the shop. The men are astonished. The hunchback begins to make small talk with the men and soon many join them. Amelia begins selling them alcohol and crackers as they enjoy small talk. People begin to show up every night, something the town has never done. This is how the cafe starts.

Musical Madness

So, we've been watching a lot of musicals lately. It got me thinking, why don't they make movies like that anymore?

The closest thing we have in this generation is Mamma Mia (great movie) or Chicago.

Some of my favorites:

Hello, Dolly

A matchmaker named Dolly Levi takes a trip to Yonkers, New York to see the "well-known unmarried half-a-millionaire," Horace Vandergelder. While there, she convinces him, his two stock clerks and his niece and her beau to go to New York City. In New York, she fixes Vandergelder's clerks up with the woman Vandergelder had been courting, and her shop assistant

My Fair Lady

Gloriously witty adaptation of the Broadway musical about Professor Henry Higgins, who takes a bet from Colonel Pickering that he can transform unrefined, dirty Cockney flower girl Eliza Doolittle into a lady, and fool everyone into thinking she really is one, too! He does, and thus young aristocrat Freddy Eynsford-Hill falls madly in love with her. But when Higgins takes all the credit and forgets to acknowledge her efforts, Eliza angrily leaves him for Freddy, and suddenly Higgins realizes he's grown accustomed to her face and can't really live without it.
Meet Me in St Louis

St. Louis 1903. The well-off Smith family has four beautiful daughters, including Esther and little Tootie. 17-year old Esther has fallen in love with the boy next door who has just moved in, John. He however, barely notices her at first. The family is shocked when Mr. Smith reveals that he has been transfered to a nice position in New York, which means that the family has to leave St. Louis and the St. Louis Fair.
Funny Girl

The life of comedienne Fannie Brice, from her early days in the Jewish slums of the Lower East Side, to the height of her career with the Ziegfeld Follies, including her marriage to and eventual divorce from her first husband, Nick Arnstein.

Lost Yet Again

We didn't really get that lost, just didn't find what we expected. I wanted to go to this park but of course it was a little too rustic. There was nowhere to park and the "road" (more like muddy trail) was a little too much mud for my car. Although there was a pretty stream next to the road.

We really wanted to go hiking so I let Miss Moon pick where we went. There is a huge reservoir in central Mass, Quabbin Reservoir, that she wanted to see. We found it but it really wasn't up to our standards, kinda easy to navigate. Although we did take a "souvenir" lol.

Think we should've rolled down these hills?

Happy Easter!

What do we do when its cold and rainy outside? Why color Easter eggs of course.

We can't color eggs like we used to at home so now we do it in our dorm.
The kit comes with a wax crayon to make designs. Here are some of the designs:

Decode the message

Oh no, sewage from the drain?

HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE!

SoGoPro's Book Club . . .sort of

The book I am currently reading has not been individually mentioned as part of SoGoPro's Book Club, but the author of the book has been mentioned.

Cormac McCarthy, probably most famous for No Country for Old Men, has written many other works. The book I am reading is The Road. Apparently they are making it into a movie.

The Road is a tale of a father and son who are making their way across the country. The story is set in a postapocalyptic world. The earth has been burned and ash covers the ground. When it snows, the snow falls in gray particles. The most striking thing about the book is that the characters have no names; McCarthy simply refers to them as the man and the boy. Perhaps this is to make the reader apply the mannerisms to any individual. The characters could be anybody. So far the book is very good. The relationship between the man in the boy is very touching.

"They passed through the city at noon of the day following. He kept the pistol to hand on the folded tarp on top of the cart. He kept the boy close to his side. The city was mostly burned. No sign of life. Cars in the street caked with ash, everything covered in ash and dust. Fossil tracks in the dried sludge. A corpse in a doorway dried to leather. Grimacing at the day. He pulled the boy closer.

Just remember that the things you put into your head are there forever, he said. You might want to think about that.

You forget some things, don't you?

Yes. You forget what you want to remember and you remember what you want to forget."

Ok, We're Really Lost

If we thought we had been lost before, we were sorely mistaken. It was such a nice day out that Miss Moon and I decided to try another hiking trip. We are getting really into hiking; maybe we should join the hiking club, haha.

We picked a random state park to go to, Conway State Park. I went on map quest to search for directions and printed them out. They seemed pretty straightforward. This is where the saying "objects aren't always quite what they seem" comes into play.

The trip started out pretty easy, the roads coming up as directed. As we got closer though, things got a little more difficult. Somehow we ended up on private property on a dirt road. Although I would not even call this a road; more like "stairs" as Miss Moon called it. There were unavoidable pot holes everywhere. It felt more like I was guiding a ship than a car.

Eventually we realized that we wouldn't find the park and I turned around. At least I know my new car can go off roading, haha. As you know from past posts, Miss Moon and I have had no luck in finding wildlife on our trips. Today someone was smiling down upon us. We saw some ducks in a pretty pond and then . . .

as I was driving along I thought I saw this huge dog in the road, boy was I wrong. It was a moose! I have never seen a moose before, but there she was, just trotting across the road. I tried to grab my camera but she was gone by the time I got it. Oh well maybe next time.

Diemond Farm

I am an An Sci major in college. For those who don't know what that means; its Animal Science. As a requirement for the course you have to go to other farms as part of a lab.

Today we went to a chicken and turkey farm. They were preparing for an easter egg hunt and had hundreds of baby chicks. We got to hold some of them. They are too cute for words, I will thoroughly think about it the next time I eat chicken. Although that probably won't stop me.
