Paranormal Activity

So last night Miss Moon and I went out for the five dollar movie to see Paranormal Activity. I had heard good reviews of the movie, quoting it as the scarriest movie of all time.

I wouldn't say it was the scarriest but it was definitely creepy. The movie follows the lives of a couple, Katie and Micah. Katie is experiencing paranormal phenomena and Micah wants to capture the activity on film. As the movie progresses it becomes clear that what they're dealing with is not human.

What you don't see coming from the movie is the humor. Micah is very skeptical and sarcastic. He continues to provoke the "demon" throughout the film. Micah does not take the situation seriously and often mocks the "demon." As the movie goes on the activity becomes increasingly invasive. The first sign of activity happens when the bedroom door moves on its own.

With each night the activity seems to escalate, Katie becomes odd in her manner and at one point stands up in the middle of the night and stares at Micah for several hours, then finally ends up in the porch swing outside. Micah wants to prove that there is something in their room. He lays down powder on the floor and footsteps appear but do not exit the room.

Other phenomena include shadows and objects moving on their own. One of the creepiest moments for me is towards the end of the movie. Katie has one foot outside of the covers while she is sleeping. She is suddenly pulled out of bed and dragged down the hall. Micah has to pry her away.

Towards the end of the movie it seems as though Katie is possessed. She is almost in a comatose state. Both Katie and Micah want to leave the house. Suddenly Katie makes the decision to stay, totally out of character. She thinks it will be better if they stay and wants Micah to trust her. Just as Micah walks away from her after deciding to stay, Katie gives a creepy smile to the camera, as if possessed. One knows that the upcoming night holds a showdown.

Want to know how it ends? You'll have to see for yourself.

Paramore at the House of Blues

Last night we went to Boston to see Paramore. They were playing at the House of Blues, right across from Fenway. We had a great time.

Miss Moon had roped her mother into going, get this, her mother had never even heard of the band. Luckily she had a seat.

Miss Moon and I were down in front in the mash pit. It really wasn't that bad until Paramore was about to come out. People started to push and shove. Miss Moon and I just had to brace ourselves. Although that still doesn't top the pit we had when we saw Jack's Mannequin at Toad's Place in CT.

They had two opening bands; The Swellers and Paper Route. The Swellers weren't bad, they were just hard to hear. I don't know if it was the base or the drums but we really couldn't hear them. I really liked Paper Route but Miss Moon only thought they were okay. The had some really strong base that made a lot of vibrations. She didn't like that.

Paramore played really well. At one point they even brought out accoustic guitars. They played all the old standbuys: That's What You Get, Crushcrushcrush, etc. I was starting to get worried when they were playing the new stuff and they hadn't played Misery Business. They ended up saving that for last. The pit went wild when they played that song. It was an awesome show and we ended up really close, about two people from the front.
