The Road . . . A Movie?
I recently learned that a book I read a few months ago, The Road, will be released as a movie on October 16th. The book was written by Cormac McCarthy, famous for No Country for Old Men. It was disturbingly good. The book takes place in a post-apocolyptic society. Some people run and hide, trying to find food. Others eat whatever they can fnd even if that means eating other people. The story follows a man and his son as they trek across the country toward the coast.

Summer Heights High and Trekies
So, I went to the movies with my mom yesterday. She was a huge fan of Star Trek and really wanted to see the movie. I loved it so of course I was willing to see it again. It was even better the second time. Surprisingly she didn't like it as much as I thought she would. Before the movie we went to this eatery, I'll call it a snack bar. Braddish's is one of my favorite summer places. They have the best onion rings and I don't even really like onions. If you're ever in Massachusetts and in the Grafton area go to Art Braddish's Snack Bar.
SoGoPro has brought to my attention an interesting Australian show: Summer Heights High. This guy plays three different characters, one of which is a woman. There is the stuck up rich girl, Ja'mie, the trouble maker with a flare for cussing, Jonah, and the enthusiastic drama teacher, Mr. G. If you want to watch clips, which you should, go here.
My mom was also telling me about this skit the other day that was on SNL. Its got Andy Sanberg and Justin Timberlake singing in an eighties boy band style. It's called dick in a box. Its so funny and if you haven't seen it youtube it. There is also a follow-up with Susan Sarandon called mother lover which is pretty funny. That one was more difficult to find so here. The song is pretty catchy and just as funny.

All Work And No Play

Now that the school year is over I have to go back to work. I must say I really didn't miss it. All of the people that I was friends with have left and new people have replaced them. I have to get to know everyone all over again.
One thing I did miss was all the animals. I work at Petsmart and animals of all shapes and sizes come into the store. Probably one of the weirdest is the bearded dragon that comes in all the time. Strangely enough he is pretty friendly. I love Angus too, he is this huge Newfoundland with the sweetest personality.
I have to get used to these long hours again. Oh well, at least its money.

The Time of Your Life
It's finally over. One year of college down, hopefully three more to go. Miss Moon and I decided to pack things into the car before my last final. We thought that we didn't have that much to bring home, boy were we wrong. How can two people accumulate so much stuff?
My car was packed to the brim. It felt like we were packing a clown car, just keep adding stuff. When the car couldn't hold anymore we realized that we still had a few things left over. Not to mention I couldn't see out my back window. She decided to call her dad and ask for help. We were able to move some of her bulky things to his SUV.
The room felt kind of weird when it was completely empty. We had to sweep before we could move out. Another question, how can things get so dirty in such a short amount of time?
I think it hit me that we were actually moving out on the ride home. I realized that we would not be driving back there for several months. It was kind of bittersweet.
Lesson for next year: Don't bring so much stuff that you don't need.

Converted Trekkies!

So, Miss Moon and I just went to the movies to see Star Trek. Neither of us have ever seen the show or really know what its about. We'd heard from several people that it was very good and that we had to see it. Well we had some free time and decided to go.
It was awesome. I thought that it might be a little hard to follow because we hadn't seen the show before, but it definitely wasn't. It took place before the show started. All the characters were very intriguing. We especially took a liking to Captain Kirk, we love someone with a sarcastic nature, plus he's easy on the eyes. Spock was great too. We pretty much loved everyone, even that little alien with the engineer, it was so cute.
If you haven't seen this movie yet you should, Miss Moon and I recommend it.
Live Long and Prosper.

Finals Suck
One down, two to go. I hate finals, its so much studyin that I'm going stir crazy. To make things interesting the power plant on campus decided to stop functioning today. The power was out all over campus and we almost got away without taking the final. The power came on and the professor was able to print the exams. I was a little bummed but on the other hand I won't have to come back to the rescheduled exam. I'm countin down the days now.

Amusing Music
It's finally the end of the semester. Although classes might be over, there are still finals to think about. To keep myself from going completely insane I have been looking for new music to amuse me while I study. I'm one of those people that needs some sort of background noise to get anything accomplished.
I have discovered a new obsession band. This is why I love Tuesdays, iTunes chooses to release new music. I love it but my credit card does not, haha.
I found this band while searching through the "genius recommends for you" section. They are called Your Vegas. I'm not even really sure how to describe them. Their song Up Until the Lights Go Out has become a nonstop play for me. They also have some other good ones: Birds of Paradise and It Makes My Heart Break. Give them a listen.
On a side note, I really like the new Cobra Starship song, Good Girls Go Bad. It has that girl from Gossip Girl in it, Leighton Meester. She's actually not a bad singer.

Twilight: A Continuation
I'm a lot further in Twilight currently and its just getting good. Tyler, the teenage boy, has stolen something very personal from Fenton Breece, the undertaker. Breece wants it back and he will even go so far as to ask the local bad boy, Sutter, for help.
Right now Breece is caught in a blackmail sceme with Tyler's sister. She demands, in exchange for the incriminating evidence, a large sum of money.
Breece feels that this is not all she wants and uses Sutter to perhaps persuade Tyler to give the stolen goods back. So far Tyler is not budging.

Has everyone seen this? I stumpled onto this on youtube the other day and I think it is hilarious. The All American Rejects do a cover of Britney Spears' song Womanizer.

So Many Books, So Little Time
Ever had so many books that you want to read that you don't really know where to start? That's the dilemma that I am facing at the moment.

My solution: read more than one at a time. Although this tends to get me confused on some of the plots. It takes a page or two to get back into the story.

I am almost finished with one of the books. Neil Gaiman wrote stories such as Coraline and Stardust. He has another book that is a Newbery Medal winner; The Graveyard Book. This is the tale of a boy called Nobody Owens. When he was just an infant a man came into his home and killed his entire family. With luck the baby was able to escape to the graveyard behind the house. Ghosts of the graveyard discover him there and decide to protect and raise the baby as one of them. Nobody, Bod for short, grows up learning the tricks of ghost behavior. Will this ability be able to save him when the murderer returns for him? You'll just have to pick it up and find out for yourself, it's full of twists and turns.

SoGoPro recommended another Book; Twilight. You would not believe the lengths I had to go to to get this book. Unfortunately it was not in my campus library so I went to the local bookstore. I couldn't find it anywhere so I asked if they had it in stock. Of course the guy though I was talking about the Stephanie Meyer version. They had to order it for me and a couple of days later it arrived. I am only like thirty pages into this one, but so far it intrigues me. It kind of reminds me of reading about like Ed Gein or something. There is an undertaker and he starts messing with the dead bodies. A teenage boy discovers what he is doing when he sees the man disturbing the new grave of his father. With the help of a girl he is beginning to uncover the evidence he needs against the undertaker.
This one is a good read too but try not to get into my situation with too many books.

Longshot Wins the Derby

The biggest two minutes in sports occured yesterday: The 135th running of the Kentucky Derby.
Mine That Bird, a 50-1 longshot won the race by several lengths. Boy do I wish I had some money on that race. The horse gave $130.20 on a $2 bet.
That race was all Calvin Borel's. I like when a jockey embraces his win. That man could not have been happier, as he should be. I remember when he won a couple years ago on Street Sense, using that same signature move. Towards the end of the race he made a dramatic move on the rail, squeezing in between horses.
Congrats to Mine That Bird.
